The Discovery Ridge Community Association held an Amazing Race event that engaged both community members and local businesses. The event was held at the end of September 2018, and despite the chilly weather over 50 racers of all ages attended. The race included quizzes about the community and prizes to local businesses. The highlight of the event took place at the finish line where two teams were “neck-in-neck for first place,” says the coordinator.
The $750 ActivateYYC grant went towards the materials needed to put together 10 race stations and to make sure this event was a success. A 12-year-old participant said this event was the best one he had ever been a part of, and other neighbours had suggested a repeat event, so the coordinators knew they had done a good job!
