Coach Hill Patterson Heights Community Association (CHPHCA) had a skating rink its in backyard that was never used. So, with the help of ActivateYYC and the City of Calgary’s Adopt-a-Rink volunteer program, the old rink was brought back to life. To celebrate the rink’s new-found glory, the CHPHCA hosted a skating party in December 2018. The organizers thought the best part of the event was one little kid who finally got to try skating for the first time and loved it!

The event was such as success that the Calgary Fire Department even showed up for a quick stake with neighbours. The ActivateYYC grant was used for advertising, snacks, decorations, and shovels to clear the snow off the rink. These items helped make for an awesome winter skating party!
