Coventry Community Space

Coventry Community Space

With support from the Northern Hills Community Association and VIVO, Creating Coventry took on this project to create a purposeful space focused on connection and connectivity. The team had chosen a Transportation Utility Corridor in Northern Hills before applying and used a combined effort of social media and in-person engagement, with 72 and 95 participants respectively. The project team decided to create a social space, which aligned with the majority of votes.

On November 3, 2019, after a few delays due to weather, Creating Coventry volunteers and several community members painted and installed a new picnic table. Shortly after the table was installed, it was the subject of vandalism. While this may seem like a setback, the community rallied and two community residents repaired the table within 24 hours. The activation also included installing a number of doggy bag holders in the area. This project aims to improve community engagement and allow for easier access to community essentials, such as doggy bags and spaces to hang out with family or friends!
