On July 20, 2022, Inglewood BIA revealed a neglected space in Inglewood that they transformed into a place where community members could come together and express themselves with the written word. This was done through landscaping, art and the installation of a table, chairs and an operating typewriter. The typewriter was accompanied by a mural questioning whether analog is better for dialogue, a move made to signify Inglewood’s slowed-down culture and value of communication. As long as the sun is shining and people keep coming, the typewriter will remain in front of the BIA’s office for passersby to utilize, as one couple did by writing each other love letters in a fit of giggles!
